A review of theoretical perspectives regarding how individuals make sense of the person in a social world, and how they develop their personality, self-concept, and social behaviour. Using a social and personality psychology framework, it will review how the concept of self is acquired and influences behaviour. It will also review the central role of the self-concept in different theories of personality and abnormal behaviour.
