It provides an in-depth exploration of geotechnical investigation programmes, emphasising the critical skills needed to prepare and interpret investigation reports accurately. The course introduces advanced theories of soil mechanics, focusing on soil bearing capacity and its application in the design of both shallow and deep foundation systems. Additionally, students will explore the principles of lateral earth pressure theories and their application in the design and assessment of retaining walls.
