The fundamental principles of the physics of electricity and magnetism starting with Maxwell’s equations and developing the familiar Ohm’s law and Kirchhoff’s current and voltage laws as a natural consequence. The mathematical concepts of electrostatics, magneto-statics, and vector calculus underpin the more complex electrical engineering topics taught in later courses. Transmission lines are included as a practical application of the non-trivial issues that arise in the design of high-frequency circuits.
