This course is built around Pacific values, concepts and traditional practices so that students acquire a critical awareness and sensitivity for working with Pacific learners. With high populations of Pacific peoples in New Zealand, and particularly in Auckland, all teachers need an understanding of the socio-cultural and political background of Pacific education in New Zealand in order to act with cultural responsiveness in their professional practice.
