What is thinking? This course will critically examine children’s ways of thinking, unpacking thinking as mental processes and ‘ways of knowing’ about things. Challenging individual assumptions and beliefs, this course will examine the mental processes and skills required in the action of thinking including analytical thinking, creative thinking, critical thinking and divergent thinking. Contextual, cultural and social influences on the mental processes and skills will be explored, alongside supporting theoretical frameworks.
