Students are introduced to current issues in and around the Deaf community, both in NZ and internationally. Students will build on their understanding of Deaf Culture and apply their knowledge to key issues such as Deaf education, Human Rights entitlements and cultural identity. There is a particular emphasis placed on analysing these issues from multiple perspectives in order to prepare students for work between the Deaf community and mainstream society.
