Purpose
BMD graduates will have a body of knowledge in Te Reo and their chosen major (Maori Development or Maori Media), combined with a critical awareness of their cultural identity. They will be able to apply this knowledge and understanding in an employment setting or to undertake postgraduate study.
Content
Maori development, Maori media, te reo, te matatiki - multimedia, communication and presentation, culture and society, Maori world views; Te Tiriti O Waitangi (Treaty of Waitangi), te rangahau (research methods), te ara pou (leadership), policy development and design, economics; applied legal studies, iwi resource management, co-operative education.
