| Purpose |

The PgDipPsychAsst will provide an applied career pathway for students who have an undergraduate degree with a major in psychology or a Bachelor of Psychology. A Psychology Assistant will be a registered health professional who supports and enhances psychological care within services for tangata whai ora who are experiencing mental distress and/or mental health conditions.

Graduates of the PgDipPsychAsst will have foundational knowledge and practical skills in psychological theory, assessment, formulation, and intervention, enabling them to practise safely and ethically as a Psychology Assistant under the NZPB.
