Purpose
The BAppSc/BCIS conjoint degree programme gives students the opportunity to complete the requirements of two Bachelor’s degrees over a reduced period of time. Graduates will have a background in programming, the management and analysis of large data sets, microbiology and genetic domain knowledge and skills in statistics. They will be equipped to work in biotechnology and applied biology research institutes and commercial companies in NZ. Graduates will also be prepared for postgraduate study in their chosen fields.
Content
Computer programming, statistical models, bioinformatics, microbiology, IT hardware and software infrastructure, data and process modelling, database design, artificial intelligence, data mining and knowledge engineering, biotechnology, information architecture, high level scripting languages.
