Prescriptor
Stimulates critical in-depth analysis of theories of language and of language in use. It focuses on a limited number of aspects of language (e.g. meaning and grammar, and spoken language - phonetics, phonology and pronunciation). It also leads to an increased awareness of language and its relationship with socio-cultural contexts, cognition, identity, and communication (including teaching). Its main role in the programme is to equip students with concepts, techniques and theories fundamental to investigating language use in various situations.
