Creating exceptional learning experiences for students involves teachers actively developing their teaching expertise, delivering compelling programmes, challenging students to become inquiring and agile thinkers and integrating teaching with research. We will examine the nature of the student learner, as well as reflect on the relevance and effectiveness of own practice, being open to transformational learning with paradigmatic shifts as new insights are revealed through scholarly reading, critical collegial discussion and inquiry-based professional practice. The focus is on taking risks to experiment with practice change, supported by mentors, for critical reflective practice towards an understanding of the self as teacher.
