Student teachers expand and deepen their funds of professional knowledge in order to build curriculum experiences, planned and unplanned and make connections between Te Whāriki and the New Zealand Curriculum. Increasing their critical knowledge underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and understanding of the Strands of Te Whāriki, students will make holistic learning and teaching decisions taking into consideration all elements of the environmental context, including physical, emotional, spiritual and cultural. The aim is to foster curiosity, creativity and care within the environment.
