Underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a deepening knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki, socio-cultural, developmental and pedagogical approaches for infants and toddlers participating in early childhood education will be examined. Models of specialised care and education for infants and toddlers from an international perspective will be explored. Current theories and practices for quality outcomes for infants and toddlers in ECE settings will be critically examined. From this analysis, learners will evaluate pedagogical practices for very young children.
