Examines concepts, models and development patterns pertaining to urban destinations. Through a chronological approach (past to present to future) based around the concept of modernity, examines concepts, models and development patterns pertaining to urban destinations. Use of chronology enables cities, and features of cities, to be understood as pre-modern, modern, or post-modern. Students learn to understand the historical and developmental contexts of urban attractions and destinations and develop insight into themselves as urban tourists.
