Introduces students to the wonders of the Universe and equips them with the basic concepts and principles of astronomy. Describes and explains cosmic cycles and 'rhythms', the origin of matter and time, formation of galaxies, stars and the Earth. An introduction to the history of astronomy and Maori cosmology will provide an appreciation of the contemporary place of astronomy and a framework for understanding how the modern body of astronomy knowledge has developed.
