Students will learn about key principles in conflict resolution. The course focuses on the nature of conflict and conflict resolution in the context of inter-personal communication. Students will learn to define conflict, about different theories of the cause of conflict, and the importance of values, attitudes and beliefs in understanding disputes or conflict. Also covered will be the part played by culture and gender, different types of conflict, the process of conflict itself, how people react to conflict, and strategies and tactics for responding to it.
