Examines New Zealand’s political system and its contribution to how policy is made, analyzing how our democracy functions and how this has changed over time. Major institutions and processes surveyed through a comparative perspective include parliament, government, political parties, the media, electoral processes and voting behaviour, and the role and input of interest groups in the policy-making process. We evaluate our political system in terms of the quality of democracy, policy performance, and its constitutional commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
