Learners will study family/whanau and society from a sociological perspective. Issues of gender, class, ethnicity, economics and power will be examined for their impact on families. Te Tiriti o Waitangi will be examined and implications of this will be linked to early childhood education and primary education. Learners will demonstrate valuing and respectful interactions with whanau and family within the socio-cultural context of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
